Drinking Water & Desalination Projects
Packaged Drinking Water
Drinking water plant technologies, including RO, ultrafiltration, and ozonation, treat raw water through filtration, chemical dosing, and sterilization to ensure safety and regulatory compliance. Key processes include coagulation, sedimentation, sand/carbon filtration, and, for bottled water, multi-stage RO, UV disinfection, and packaging.
Key Technologies in Drinking Water Treatment
Modern water plants utilize a combination of physical and chemical processes to remove contaminants:
- Membrane Filtration (RO/UF/NF)
- Reverse Osmosis (RO) removes dissolved solids, while Ultrafiltration (UF) and Nanofiltration (NF) effectively eliminate bacteria and impurities.
- Pre-treatment Systems
- Pressure Sand Filters (PSF) remove suspended matter and turbidity using layers of sand, gravel, and pebbles.
- Activated Carbon Filtration
- Removes color, odor, and organic contaminants from the water.
- Disinfection Systems
- Ozone generators and Ultraviolet (UV) sterilizers are used to kill pathogens.
- Advanced Contaminant Removal
- Technologies like AMRIT are used for removing specific contaminants such as arsenic, iron, and fluoride.

Packaged Drinking Water Plant Process
Packaged plants (mineral water plants) follow a strict, automated process to prepare water for bottling:
- Raw Water Storage & Filtration
- Initial treatment via sand and carbon filters.
- Micron Filtration
- A final, fine polishing filter (1 to 0.5 microns) for impurity removal.
- Reverse Osmosis (RO)
- Reduces Total Dissolved Solids (TDS).
- Disinfection
- UV and Ozonation.
